'Amore' Reasons to Shop Heart-Smart in February
This Valentine’s Day encourage your loved one to improve their daily eating habits while also spicing up their diets! ACME's registered dietitian Jennifer Shea Rawn, MS, MPH, RD, has put together several ideas for romantic culinary adventures including:
- Save money by packing your sweetheart a lunch. Incorporate good-for-your-heart aphrodisiacs like asparagus, avocados, almonds and chocolate.
- Another (healthy) way to save money is bringing a romantic dinner to your own kitchen. Plan and prepare the meal together.
- Although pinks come to mind when you think of your heart and February, don’t forget the leafy greens! Leafy greens are low in calories, but most are rich in fiber and antioxidants.
- Buy chocolates for your sweetie – Instead of milk and white chocolates choose dark chocolates. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids which may help lower blood pressure.
