5 Things to Know This Week: Sept. 17-23

A heads up for those who live or work in Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills and Penn Valley.

 

1. Narberth's Fall Music & Arts Festival runs from 2-7 p.m. Sunday on Haverford Avenue.

2. The Penn Valley Civic Association meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Penn Valley Elementary School.

3. At Wednesday night's Police Committee meeting of the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners, Police Superintendent Michael McGrath will address an unspecified personnel matter and also call for the approval of probationary police officer jobs to bolster the force.

4. Lower Merion Township department heads are set to discuss next year's funding needs with administration and Board of Commissioners officials at "Budget Saturday," a public meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

5. The Lower Merion School District is closed Monday and Tuesday for the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

Yes! Absolutely. Good catch, Deborah. Narberth is in the process of a borough-wide rezoning project, so this could well answer a lot of residents' questions about how and why it's happening.

Also, a correction: the Narberth festival is Sunday, not Saturday. Thanks for the catch, Ed Ridgway. Narberth folks are on the ball today, more so than I am, fortunately (or unfortunately)
