Annie Sez Closing at End of February

The Penn Valley store is discounting merchandise 40 to 60 percent.

The women's clothing store is closing within weeks, most likely at the end of February, store manager Marge Pinketti told Patch.

The company's corporate headquarters has not told staff exactly when the store will close. Pinketti said she was told to expect word 10 days ahead of closure, at which point she'll advertise the date.

The store is already decorated with "Store Closing" signs, as well as notices of 40 percent to 60 percent discounts.

Asked how many people work at the store, Pinketti referred Patch to corporate headquarters for further comment. Several phone messages left with a media liaison for the company have not been returned.

The entire chain is reportedly in financial trouble, according to BusinessWeek.com
