Penn Valley Temple to Hold Arlen Specter Funeral Tuesday; Biden to Attend

Specter, the former U.S. senator, died Sunday at 82.

A funeral for former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) will be held at noon Tuesday at Har Zion Temple in Penn Valley.

The service is open to the public; cameras and recording devices are prohibited. Specter will then be buried in a Huntingdon Valley cemetery.

Among those expected to attend the funeral is Vice President Joe Biden, USA Today reported.

Har Zion's address is 1500 Hagys Ford Road, less than a mile from the Gladwyne exit (Exit 337) from the Schuylkill Expressway. The temple's phone number is 610-667-5000, and general email inquiries are accepted at hzt@harziontemple.org.

Specter, 82, died Sunday at his home in Philadelphia's East Falls neighborhood.

Gov. Tom Corbett has ordered all flags in Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff until sundown Tuesday, in memory of Specter.

Check back Tuesday after the service for more coverage from Patch.
