Beer Tasting Coming to Narberth Library
LiBrewery 2013 will be held on Friday, March 15, at the Merion Tribute House.
Books and beer may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a library fundraiser, but that's exactly what the Narberth Community Library has conjured up for one of their largest fundraisers.
The Narberth Community Library will host LiBrewery 2013, a beer-tasting fundraiser, on March 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the historic Merion Tribute House. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the door. This is the second year the library will be hosting LiBrewery.
The idea came about by one of the Library Board members, said President of the Narberth Library Board Linda Waddell. "We've had wine tasting fundraisers for several years now but we thought there are also people who enjoy craft beers," explained Waddell on how the idea took place.
In addition, the event will include live music, raffles, and a 50/50 drawing. According to the library, Maido will also be providing complimentary shuttle transportation between the Narberth train station, the library, and the Merion Tribute House.
And for parents wishing to attend the event, a babysitting option is available at the Narberth Community Library that night for a Kids' Night Out event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Kids' Night Out event is for children ages 3 and older and will feature games, food, and fun.
Parents can register online in advance for the Kids' Night Out event which costs $10 for one child and $6 for each additional child. According to the library, babysitting space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
According to Waddell, space is limited and about 40 people have already signed up. Last year's LiBrewery event was sold out and Waddell said she expects the same, if not more, turnout for this year. The event will go towards the library's overall general fund which will help with the library's existing programs as well as possible new ones, said Waddell.
