Lower Merion public schools resume normal schedules.
1. Check Patch's lists of what's open and closed in the Narberth-Bala Cynwyd area for today's Labor Day holiday.
2. Tuesday marks the first day of 2012-2013 classes for Lower Merion School District students. For those curious about how the school days will affect traffic patterns:
- Harriton and Lower Merion high schools will be in session every weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
- Bala Cynwyd and Welsh Valley middle schools, from 8:20 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.
- Belmont Hills, Cynwyd and Penn Valley elementary schools, from 9:05 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.
3. The Narberth Avenue bridge remains closed to vehicle traffic following a PennDOT inspection. Patch will update readers as appropriate when the situation changes or more details become available.
4. The Philadelphia Undy 5000, a race in support of colon cancer patients, is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday on Martin Luther King Drive along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. 5. In Bryn Mawr on Saturday, Ludington Library celebrates its grand opening at 10 a.m., and Bryn Mawr Day will celebrate 21 century-old institutions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
