Citizens Bank: Narberth, Bala Cynwyd Branches Not Among Area Closures
Several media outlets reported seven of the bank's locations in southeastern Pennsylvania will close.
Citizens Bank's Narberth and Bala Cynwyd branches are not among those designated for closure, a spokeswoman said Friday.
Regional media representative Sylvia Bronner confirmed that the locations at Haverford and Essex avenues in the borough and at City and Bala avenues in the township "are not affected," though she did not immediately respond to a request for a full list of the closures.
The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Business Journal quoted Bronner as saying seven Citizens Bank branches in southeastern Pennsylvania will close down as the company lays off 250 workers nationwide and redistributes others.
Informed of the Bala Cynwyd branch's safe status, Lower Merion Ward 9 Commissioner George Manos said, "The branch at Bala and City is a real asset to the community, a solid anchor for the City Avenue end of Bala Avenue. We are glad to learn that it is to remain open."
