Hymie's Robbery: Three Suspects Now In Custody
Three men have now been arrested and charged in connection to the armed robbery of Hymie's Deli in Merion, which occurred July 14.

Another suspect was charged Thursday in connection with the armed robbery of Hymie's Deli that occurred earlier this summer, bringing the total number of suspects in custody up to three.
Hymie's Deli, located at 342 Montgomery Ave. in Merion, was robbed at gunpoint on July 14 by four suspects, according to police. Deli employees and patrons, 19 in all, were ordered to the ground and three had wallets and cell phones stolen. An 18-year-old Hymie's cashier dialed 911 during the robbery.
Terrence Lee Albright, 24, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Thursday, according to court documents. He has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery with threat of immediate serious injury, a first degree felony.
Albright was arraigned Thursday, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. He is being held at Montgomery County Prison on $100,000 bail, according to court documents.
Albright is the third suspect to be arrested in connection with the robbery.
Michael Shawn Schaefer, 40, was the first suspect arrested in connection with the Hymie's robbery. He was charged on July 25 with 19 counts of robbery with threat of immediate serious injury, 19 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery with threat of immediate serious injury, among other lesser charges, according to court documents.
At Schaefer's preliminary hearing, held Aug. 8, judge Karen Zucker ruled to retain all Schaefer's charges for court, following testimony from the Hymie's Deli manager on duty at the time of the robbery, surveillance footage of the robbery, and evidence presented by Lower Merion police detective Walter Kerr.
Evidence presented against Schaefer included the discovery of a sawed off shotgun, matching the shotgun visible in surveillance footage of the robbery, in Schaefer's car. Schaefer's lawyer stated that all the evidence against his client was purely circumstantial.
John Leroy Moore, Jr., 34, of Philadelphia, was the second suspect arrested. Moore was arrested on Aug. 21 and charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery with threat of immediate serious injury, a first degree felony. His preliminary hearing, originally scheduled for Aug. 28, has been continued to Sept. 13, according to court documents.
Investigation of the Hymie's robbery is continuing, Lt. Frank Higgins of the Lower Merion Police Department said Thursday. Police are looking for at least one more suspect.

Am I right that the law requires a mandatory five years if a gun is used in the commission of a crime? I think that penalty is imposed in Montgomery County but not in Philadelphia.
This is more good work by the Lower Merion police. Law enforcement is not only a core government function but also government's most important function.

I am glad this person was caught, but I'd hardly applaud the police's gumshoe work. After all (as is detailed at http://ardmore.patch.com/articles/dismissal-denied-for-hymie-s-deli-robbery-defendant), immediately after the robbery was committed, the police found a young black man just hanging out in front of someone's house a block or two from the scene of the crime and otherwise acting very suspiciously -- and yet the police just let him go!!!
