Man Fatally Hit by Train in Merion on Thanksgiving Night

The incident occurred between Merion and Overbrook stations.

 

A man was struck and killed by a train in Lower Merion Township on Thanksgiving night, according to Lower Merion Police.

The incident occurred Thursday at 9:40 p.m. on a stretch of tracks in the Merion section of the township, between the Merion and Overbrook stations, according to a police press release. The operator of the eastbound train immediately reported the incident. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Main Line Media News has identified the victim as Frederick Washington, 68, of Philadelphia.

This incident remains under investigation by Lower Merion and Amtrak police.
