Paul Ryan’s Visit Energizes Local Republicans

The economy and entitlements were hot issues.

For the many Republicans who gathered at Paul Ryan’s Tuesday visit to the American Helicopter Museum in West Chester, the current state of the economy was a huge issue.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 people attended the event, campaign volunteers estimated. Many present also expressed concern about the need for smaller government and about entitlement programs and their sustainability.

“I’m concerned about the economy, as everybody is,” said Chet Walker, of Birmingham Township, when asked why he’s supporting the Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan ticket. “And about the job situation.”

Walker added he was disappointed in the Democrats who protested outside and who went in to disrupt Ryan’s speech.

“I think he understands the severity of the situation this country’s in,” said Duane Pettis, of Bristol. “As conservative as he is, he has a bipartisan plan… I think it’s a really good middle ground. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very conservative, but you have to start somewhere.”

Pettis voted for a third-party candidate in the last presidential election and later regretted it.

“There’s too much on the line,” Pettis said. “I would vote for anybody over Obama.”

Susan Birch and Barbara Albright, both of West Bradford, said they were there to hear more from Ryan. Albright said she was glad of Ryan’s plans to lower spending and lower taxes.

“I think that Ryan brings fresh ideas—yet time-tested solutions—to our economic woes,” Birch said.

Margie Diasio, of Montgomery Township, also said she was supporting Ryan because of his plan for the economy.

“He knows his numbers and understands what’s wrong with the economy,” Diasio said. “He brings to the table these solutions.”

West Chester resident Bob Whetstone said he feels misrepresented by the current Barack Obama/Joe Biden administration.

“I like what Romney and Ryan represent,” Whetstone said. “Small government, a controlled economy—all the things I’m concerned about.”

Though Lower Merion Township Commissioner Scott Zelov (Ward 10—Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Gladwyne) was unable to attend the Ryan event, he did say Ryan is a “superb choice for vice president.”

“He has a proven track record of proposing solutions to solve problems,” Zelov said. “The policies of Romney/Ryan will lead to economic growth and will increase employment… Paul Ryan wants to save entitlements so they are affordable for our future.”

Dan Van Ryn of West Chester attended the event with coworkers who, like him, were curious and excited about this year’s Republican ticket.

“I like what I’ve heard so far,” Van Ryn said. “But when does the action start and the talking stop?”

This "Baindead" pick of Ryan is going to cause lyin Willardo, the Mexican Mormon Moron to lose the nun and bishop votes. They HATE Ryan and his lies.

Any senior or anyone else on medicare who votes for a pathetic, psychotic, facist repuke for president is cutting their own throat. Your medicare costs will go up about $6,000 a year, and your secondary insurance will skyrocket. This is according to the CBO. The National Council of Bishops who support the lying repukes only because of abortion, have highly criticized the Ryan voucher plan as being cruel and harsh and can't support it. It gives an average $250,000 tax cut to millionaires while cutting medicare.
There is a group of nuns travelling around the country who call themeselves "Nuns on a Bus". Their goal is to correct all the false information and lies spread by Paul Ryan that his plan is going help anyone but the wealthiest 2%. They also claim the the Ryan plan is a disaster for the poor and needy people in this country and that you should vote against the republicans.
Once the medicare funds get into the hands of the repukes corporate criminal backers, it will be destroyed.
There had to be a reason that Rick the Dick Sanitarium and Nut Gingerhead, the criminal lobbyist both agreed that lyin Willardo is the worst person to ever run for president in U.S. history, that he can't be trusted and will destroy our country.
They both brought Etch A Sketch boards to their news conferences to prove their points

Mitt you are very uninformed. Obamacare is destroying medicare. Ryans plan is to fix it. It is co sponsored by Dem Sen Wyden from Oregon and has strong bi partisan support. That speaks volume. Obama doesnt even has his own party supporting him right now. If you vote Obama I will laugh when the hospital turns you away because you are too old.

The Ryan "budget" is a fraud. The numbers don't even come close to adding up. Ryan just makes things up out of thin air. He has $4.5 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthy in the plan but not a single detail about how he'll pay for it. Ryan says that he'll pay for it by eliminating tax shelters and loopholes. Sounds good! What shelters or loopholes will he eliminate? He doesn't list a single one. He just asks us to assume that it will happen. That's not a real plan and it's not something that someone who is serious about budgets and debt would put together. He is far from the serious finance policy wonk that he is being protrayed as. He's a snakeoil salesman. He's had years to put something together. Claims he's been interested in finance and budgets for decades. But he can't put together a legit budget?

No one has lied more than this administration and when Obama doesn't get his way he enacts it any way. Where is the liberal media taking pictures of flag draped caskets at Dover? Where is the liberal uproar over guns with fast and furious. Gas $3.77 a gallon. Go grocery shopping lately? This administration gets a pass on everything.

If you knew your facts you would understand that the fast and the furious was caused by the NRA and their strangle hold over the prosecuting DA's of the state of Arizona.

Mr. Pipes says, "no one has lied more than this administration." This is a classic example of making a claim without any specific facts. It is very typical of someone who is not interested in facts or fearful of reading or hearing that their beliefs are not accurate.

Flag draped caskets at Dover? I can only wonder if Mr. Pipes was asking the same question during the eight years President Bush's administration hid the cost of war from the American people? I guess he missed the paper that published the photos of the fallen earlier this week.

Fast and Furious? Mr. Pipes would do well to read the article that was published in Fortune. Reporter, Katherine Eban actually interviewed many of the agents involved, which completely destroys the GOP's false storyline. As it turns out the only intentional "gun walking" was done by agent John Dodson who disobeyed a direct order from his boss, Dave Voth NOT to walk guns in this manner. Interestingly enough it was Dodson who then went to CBS with the false allegations of the ATF "ordering" him to walk the guns and falsely claimed it was a common practice.

Gas prices? Mr. Pipes in case you haven't noticed we are experiencing the worst drought and hottest year on record. Crops are burning up so what do you expect to pay in a free market?

Facts are facts Mr. Pipes.

Guess the liberal media is the same place it was through the entire 2 administrations of Bush. Gas is high because of the corn crop. In case you haven't noticed, Mother earth is pretty pissed at civilization for it's 'legitimate' rape..i'm sure the oil companies and gas companies believe that it's legitimate. You nuts like to go on about losing our freedoms- well if the Mormon and Ryan win, all the women in this country will lose their rights to their bodies.

Republicans, mostly from the Mid West states, forced through Congress the gasohol legislation, during the Bush administration, which require 13 billion gallons of ethanol from corn to be added to gasoline (2012), and increases every year. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/17/business/energy-environment/ethanol-quota-debated-by-corn-farmers-and-meat-industry.html?_r=1&hp Look at the sticker on the pump next time you fill your tank. Not only does that drive up the price of corn, and all foods made from it, it damages engines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasohol That makes electric (new and/or converted) cars look a lot better, doesn't it Voter?

There's one issue which concerns me! I really enjoy reading my daily morning Pottstown Mercury! Why does The Mercury editorial staff continue to post political cartoons which are primarily right wing extremist ones blatantly supporting Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan? Why does such a well-written and organized publication "not" give a more balanced approach on all items on their editorial page? Please let me know!

How could anyone trust Romney-Ryan to lead the country since they both like to distort and lie so much?

For instance, look how much Paul Ryan avoids telling the truth....

According to a recent analysis by Politifact, a nonpartisan watchdog and Pulitzer Prize winner, Ryan rarely gives true information in his public comments. Politifact reviewed 14 statements that Ryan has publicly made over recent months and found that of those statements:

Four were “mostly false.”
Four were “half true.”
Two were “pants on fire” (equal to incredibly false)
Two were “true.”
Two were “mostly true”

In total, that means 10 statements were inaccurate, and 4 were true or mostly true. In other words, he was accurate 28 percent or less than one-third of the time.

Obama's record:
1. Auto Industry Saved
2. Recession stopped going through a slow recovery... sorry its not fast enough for many of you.
3. Strong national defense (Ossama Bin Ladin Killed)
4. Affordable Care Act passed (although most call it socialist because there is a mandate to buy insurance the end result is that thousands more people will have health insurance and although the jury is still out, I think eventually the majority of people will see their premiums lowered)
5. Ended the war in Iraq
6. More domestic drilling now than any other time in US history (drill baby drill)
7. Only gun legislation signed was to allow concealed weapons in national parks (pro nra)
8. Decent Environmental Record (not giving into the pipeline) (could do more on Fracking and energy companies allowed to scoot around EPA laws)
9. Supports wall street regulations
10. Tolerance on social issues (gay marriage)
11. Size of US gov't (employees) significantly reduced

ISSUES:
1. Gitmo still opened although promised it would close: Not really an election breaker and I don't think the right wingers really want it closed to begin with
2. Not nearly enough wall street accountability for the financial crisis (no one in jail)
3. Gulf spill (need crimes against the earth legislation)
4. Needs to cut spending and raise taxes in a smart bi-partisan way.

- Corporate profits as a percentage of GDP are at their highest levels in 60 years.

- DJIA is up about 60 percent over the past three years.

-unemployment (despite the forced drop in PUBLIC sector jobs) is down about 20 percent from its peak.

- The Economic Polity Institute reported: "Private sector job growth in the current recovery is close to that of the recovery following the early 1990's recession and is substantially stronger than the recovery following the early 2000s recession."

-Wall Street Journal's Market Watch- "corporations mostly gave $1.5 Trillion earned profits in 2011 back to their shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks, or else hoarded it in a corporate rainy-day fund."

-It is the Public sector that has shed 627,000 jobs since June 2009.

- When you look at the past trends of the government adding jobs to keep up with population growth, the government would have added about 505,000 jobs in the past three years. - Therefore, approximately 1.1 Million public-sector jobs have been lost in the last three years. - Hmmm... Sounds exactly like the cuts that the Republicans wanted.

- It was the Republican Congress that failed in providing federal aid to the states and cities, by resisting the Presidents $450 Billion jobs bill.

Ryan is no less a would-be theocrat than Santorum. Both support a Constitutional amendment which would outlaw abortion of any kind, no exceptions of any kind. That's heartless and cruel. No woman should be required to have a child she cannot support or does not want. Even Santorum has not stepped up to adopt all kids from foster care, orphanages, etc., so they are first-class hypocrites. Ask the women in and around you life for an honest answer to the question of whether they, or someone they know, has had an abortion. Unchecked population growth is a formula for economic disaster, at levels from unwed mothers and individual families to nations. It promises unending childcare and poverty for most women. In Ryan's world, there would be no form of birth control for anyone. His view is more extreme than Romney's. So, what happens if Romney is elected, then dies in office, or resigns, Nixon-style? Romney criticizes Obama for "not having held a job". Neither has Ryan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Ryan Ryan is a devotee of Ayn Rand, the guru of selfishness. Alan Greenspan, formerly head of the Federal Reserve, was too. He refused to regulate derivatives or other Wall Street excesses, which was a major basis of the 2008 financial meltdown. Ryan is of the same mind. Want a brief education on this problem? Read the book Extreme Money, by Satyajit Das. Ryan and Romney are bringers of problems, not solutions.

It will be interesting to hear Mitt Romney talk at Long's Orchard today and tell us a lot more how well big business is doing now under the Obama administration, as he said Thursday in Minnesota, and about the wonderful offshore tax havens that are helping to making that possible.

How can "anyone" label or categorize Paul Ryan theocratic when "he" is renowned to have been a "follower" of Ayn Rand's "atheistic" "dogma" as printed in her literature such as "Atlas Shrugged?" If Paul Ryan was agreeable to taking a lie-detector test we could ask him about his true religious beliefs which I believe would prove to be none! Paul Ryan said he decided to get into public service because of the influences of atheist, author and orator Ayn Rand! How can we honestly believe an individual is energizing us if Paul Ryan actually "doesn't believe in a higher power?" How can Mitt Romney and/or Paul Ryan energize "Pottstown" by "telling" us that "their-mission" is to "create-jobs?" How many folks who live in the Pottstown area honestly believe Romney's and Ryan's wealthy Corporate friends who are profiting enormously by having their steel, garments, electronics, fishing equipment, holiday items, Olympic items, clay & alloy pipe fittings, auto & truck tires, lights & lighting, tools & machinery, etc. are going to STOP "sending" American jobs to China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, etc. where they pay foreign workers about $8 to $9 a day? If you live in Pottstown, remember Bethlehem Steel & Firestone Corporation, Stanley Flag Pipe Fitters, Guidebrods(spelling), etc. and I want folks to be perfectly honest with themselves. Do you buy Mitt Romney's claim that he's going to bring these good jobs we had back? His buddies pay Chinese folks much less than our minimum wage!!!
