Penn Valley Doctor's Trial on Sex-Assault Charges Set to Start
Arie Oren, who operated a weight-loss practice in Conshohocken, was arrested in April 2011.
The Conshohocken weight-loss doctor from Penn Valley charged with sexually assaulting patients is set to stand trial in Norristown beginning Monday.
Arie Oren, 66, faces four felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and seven misdemeanor counts of indecent assault.
Oren was arrested April 11, 2011, after six women complained to authorities in September through December 2010. They reported he had assaulted them at Conshohocken Weight Control, at 100 W.Third Ave. in Conshohocken.
District Attorney Risa Ferman stated after the arrest that "Oren used his hands or a foreign object to touch and penetrate the genitals of his patients."
The trial is set to begin at 9 a.m. Monday in front of Court of Common Pleas Judge Joseph Smyth in Norristown. Trial sessions have also been set aside in the court calendar for Tuesday through Thursday mornings, according to the court docket for Oren's case.
