Phone Call Sparks Limo Fight in Penn Valley, Police Say
A pedestrian was also cited for public intoxication after reportedly registering a 0.30 BAC.
Lower Merion police on Monday reported the following incidents from the past week in the Narberth and Bala Cynwyd areas:
DUI: A 20-year-old man from Plainsboro, NJ, was charged with DUI and underage drinking about 1 a.m. Dec. 10 after his car became stuck on the riverside railroad tracks on Righters Ferry Road. The vehicle had to be towed, police said.
Theft: On Dec. 13, a Dec. 4 theft from the LA Fitness locker room in Bala Cynwyd was reported. A combination lock was cut from a locker, and the credit cards inside were used at the Lukoil gas station at City and Belmont avenues, police said.
Public intoxication: About 4 p.m. Dec. 13, a 41-year-old Belmont Hills man was charged with public intoxication after reports he had been nearly stumbling into the road on the Green Lane bridge to Manayunk. Police found him leaning against a pole at the Belmont Avenue interchange for the Schuylkill Expressway. His blood alcohol content tested 0.30, police said.
Simple assault: A 48-year-old Colwyn man was charged with assaulting co-workers inside a limousine in Penn Valley about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13, police said. Eight other men were in the vehicle while the man argued with his girlfriend on his cellphone and told his companions and driver to quiet down so he could talk. He punched several men who tried to calm him down, police said, and the limo driver pulled over at Conshohocken State Road and Hagys Ford Road to call police. Several of the men fought back, but none are being charged because it was determined they were only defending themselves, police said.
DUI: A 24-year-old Merion Station man was charged with DUI after a traffic stop at Montgomery and Woodbine avenues in Penn Valley, police said. The driver's blood alcohol content tested 0.14, police said.
Theft: A $600 iPad was stolen from the center console of an unlocked vehicle Dec. 13 on the 100 block of Highland Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, police said.
Public intoxication: A 22-year-old woman from Springfield in Delaware County was charged with public intoxication about 2 a.m. Dec. 15 on the 200 block of Belmont Hills. A cab driver had called police to complain she couldn't pay her $19.60 fare for a ride to her ex-boyfriend's house.
