Lower Merion police are searching for the man who abducted a clerk from the City Avenue Sunoco early Wednesday morning, according to Lower Merion police.

About 3:52 a.m., according to convenience store surveillance cameras, a dark-skinned black male in his late 20s to mid-30s, standing about 6 feet tall, entered and implied he had a weapon.

He forced a clerk to leave with him, and they departed in a light-colored sedan, leaving the store empty when police arrived immediately afterward.

The man later released the clerk, unharmed, on Henry Avenue in Philadelphia, three and a half miles away, police said. An undisclosed amount of cash had been taken, though it was unclear whether it was the clerk's own money or the store's. Philadelphia police picked up the clerk and returned him to the store, Lower Merion police said.

The abductor—shown in the attached surveillance camera stills, according to police—was wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, dark sneakers and a black baseball hat with a light brim. His license plate includes the letters "HNN".

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-649-1000.

The same store was robbed at gunpoint in February.
