Romney to Visit the Main Line Friday
Find out how you can attend the event or follow it online.
Republican Presidential challenger Mitt Romney will speak at a public rally Friday at Valley Forge Military Academy and College.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. but the doors of Mellon Hall open at 9:30 a.m. To get a ticket, visit http://mi.tt/S9ZmZG.
“I’m excited. The next president is coming to Radnor Township,” said Alan Brink, chair of the Radnor Republican Party. “It shows that Romney is still interested in Pennsylvania.”
Patch will be live blogging Romney’s event on all of the Main Line area Patch Web sites. Become part of the conversation with us on Twitter.com by using #RomneyPa when tweeting from the event.
According to Mittromney.com, all event attendees will go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible. No bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids or signs will be allowed in the venue. Cameras are allowed.
“An interesting aspect of this is just how fast these events get put together,” Brink said, adding that emails were flying all day Thursday looking for volunteers.
Radnor Police said that they were only given a day’s notice, too. Read about how local traffic may be affected.
Will you attend the event? You can upload your photos during and after the event on Patch.

Why is it Mitt continues to prop himself up with military photo ops when he didn't mention and thank our brave men and women fighting a war and stationed all over the world to keep us safe? I'll never forget that.
It's pathetic.

Just a point of clarity, the cadets at VFMA are not members of the US military. VFMA is a private school that while steeped in military discipline and history is not a part of the US Armed forces. Students/Cadets who graduate often go on to the US military academies, but many never enter the miltary.

He hasn't been taped yet because he hasn't said anything that would warrant it. Sometimes I wish Romney would be elected just so I can say to the republican party "see, it's not so easy is it". Things are not going to be better overnight, maybe not even in 10 years. Lets face facts, after 9/11 the world changed, it's time we change with it, work together and find a solution, and stop beating each other down!
Heather

Obama was taped - saying that he agrees with redistribution. It just wasn't reported as frequently as Romney's comments.
"The Media Research Center, “America’s Media Watchdog,” has found a chasm between coverage of Mitt Romney’s not-so-secret remarks about the country’s “47 percent” and Barack Obama’s “redistribution” remarks made in 1998 at Loyola University. Here’s how it breaks down:
In all the Big Three networks this week devoted about 88 minutes to the Romney tape compared to just six and a half minutes on the Obama clip — a 13 to 1 ratio."

Heather

I am aware that it was taped a long time ago. You said he hasn't been taped saying anything that warrants being covered - I was stating that his redistribution does warrant being covered. Even though it was taped a long time ago it still warrants more coverage than 1/13th of the press Romney is getting for this more recent comments. The public deserves to know what each candidate stands for - and the media shouldn't be editing the news or failing to report certain stories or statements each candidate makes (no matter how long ago it was.)

I have been a registered Democrat since I was old enough to vote. I am very disheartened where this nation is heading. It hurts to see so many manufacturing jobs gone....I mean really, is anything made in the USA!! Everything you pick up is made anywhere else but here! We need JOBS in AMERICA, we need to focus on the USA -- let the Middle East battle it out - they've been at it for 3,000 years. Let's work on our home before cleaning up others!! Let's see if this question works in this section: If you are opposed to government mandated healthcare insurance (aka "Obamacare"), why are you not opposed to government mandated automobile insurance.
TP
11:56 am on Friday, September 28, 2012
Here ya go Eric:
The most common argument used to justify a federal mandate to purchase health insurance is the talking point that states are allowed to force individuals to buy car insurance before they are allowed to drive. However, there is a fundamental constitutional difference between the inherent police powers of the states and the enumerated powers of the national government not to mention that driving is a voluntary activity. You don’t have to have auto insurance if you don’t drive a car or dont drive on state roads, and states require drivers to maintain auto insurance only to cover injuries to others not themselves like an individual mandate would do. The analogy between a state mandating auto insurance for those who drive and mandatory health insurance for all is flawed at best.

Eric, I'm a progressive and I'm against gov't mandated healthcare. Driving is a privalege. Healthcare is not. You can mandate people to jump through hoops if it's not Constitutionally guaranteed. This is my problem with voter ID laws. It is a constitutional right. I can't believe the Supreme Court didn't strike down the individual mandate. I want a small gov't. If the Tea Party was really Libertarian leaning, instead of the religious right, in disguise, Obama would be out.
But it's not= OBAMA---4 more years
Eric W

I don't adhere to the whole driving is a privilege BS. That is recycled hogwash. When I ask someone if they know what that means they have no idea what they are talking about. If the government paid my car loans and my car insurance, yeah it is a privilege. Until that, please stop saying it is! As for the analogy between healthcare and car, you are correct in that it is flawed analogy mostly because of your deluded sense that one should be forced to pay for car insurance but not health insurance. You are either for government mandated insurance or not. Both car and health insurance are similar in that they ensure another person or company are not burdened financially by accidents or sickness.

James, great point! I am guessing that your boss doesn't relate with you either, yet he or she is responsible for providing you a job, a salary so you can provide for your family. I am guessing that you and your boss dont sit around in his man cave drinking beers and watching the eagles, nor does your boss know who Beyonce or Jay Z is. What your boss does know is that they have to be responsible for the well being of their emloyees, and their employees depend upon them to lead. Unless of course you are a government employee, then your boss really doesn't give a rats behind about your well being (see Libya). My point being, your boss doesn't necessarily have to "relate with you" to have your best interst in mind. If he/she were the 'money-hungry republican' that we business owners are made out to be, he would have fired you long ago. Unfortunately, you will be the one creating more duress for your boss by voting in a second term for Obama, and he like many of us will have to decrease overhead, cutting your and many like you, jobs. Then you will have the opportunity to see first hand how Obama is screwing the middle class and the unemployed.....the only last option is that you are self employed....and as I have previously posted, if you are, I strongly urge you to read the ACA. Once you do, your tune might change.

Bottomline, Romney wants to take Medicare away from seniors, and hurt others who are poor or disadvantaged, so that he can help millionaires and billionaires earn and keep more money. He doesn't deserve the chance to lead his 53 percent or 100 percent of this great country.

I am going to go out on a limb and bet NONE of those supporting Obama have read the ACA (Obamacre)......NONE. And why is it important to read? Because it depicts the vast changes that this administration has put in place.....not through 2012, but through 2024. Some of you supporting Obama will be dead by then, but the gross amount of overspending in that law will most certainly end this country. No, I am not Fox ness, I am not CNN, or MSNBC, or Letterman or the View....I am simply a rare American who invested time to educate myself by reading the entire ACA. Once YOU do, your concern might be as strong as mine. Personally, I don't see why Romney is arguing over a law that the CBO has admitted will be bankrupt in 18 months...and when YOU READ IT, you will fully grasp as to how the CBO came to that conclusion. Taxing the wealthiest people 100% would not come close to covering the cost of Obamacare. With that said, I strongly recommend every American read it BEFORE casting your vote. You will see significant tax increases, not only for the rich, but those at 133% of poverty, YES, that's anyone making $48,000/yr.....don't believe me, READ IT --stop listening to all of the media and read the document! It's a law! If, after reading it you still want Obama, then at least you will be an educated voter..not what Ried and Pelosi wanted..."pass it first, then read it". Is that what you REALLY want to follow? Is that what you call leadership? I don't either. READ IT!

So much excitement over this election! The election is getting almost as much attention as the local sports teams!
Do you actually believe that it really makes a difference who is elected? As you read this, over 25,000 highly paid lobbyists are pressuring Charlie Dent and the rest of Congress to vote for what their organization, usually a corporation, wants. After the election those same 25,000 lobbyists will still be there pressuring whoever is still in Washington. How much influence do YOU have over anyone in Congress? And let's not forget about Ben Bernanke, the one man who has his hands on the purse strings of the nation.
Corporate America, and especially the banks and defense contractors, will determine the path this country will take. Not you, not any other voters either.

I would agree that the system favors a 2 party configuration. I also believe that the current R party will eventually split along Tea Party/Moderate R lines, so that a third party could come into play in the future. To a certain extent you already see this schism in the candidacy of Ron Paul, who though not a moderate is a "free-thinking" R.

Stop spouting the trash that ALL media is spewing.....READ THE LAW, and then come to your OWN decisions....unless you want the government to do THAT for you as well. CitizenJohn, I happen to like kool aid. So why re-iterate the boring cliches from the tea-party? Then there is this one: "EPIC FAIL"...Last time I checked, people who used such words were not old enough to drink a beer. Anyway, Romney's 47% comment was insulting to people that work hard and are forced to evolve with the system. In other words, they really have no choice being parasitic. The government, itself, is parasitic. In other words, it's complimentary. Now, if you believe one can make it without government: that means, no military, no police, no libraries, schools, you name it, then I assume you are someone stuck in the 17th century. Otherwise, get with the times. Understand that people like you are more dependent on government the most: with your silly morality based laws (say no drugs, for example) and your need to make people moral automatons (Janet Jackson's boob slip hurt your feelings - fine NBC millions!) So you see, it works both ways, doesnt it? You need government to keep everyone civil. You are even more needy than the 47% "Citizen John"

It is not only time to reelect our President and hault the obstruction in the House and Congress, but it is time for all of us to take responsibilty for ourselves, our families, our US of A; This is what President Obama is about. So, whoever it is you vote for, please do yourself and your family and friends a favor and get after your Representative and your Congressmen and let them know you are there all throughout the next four years and beyond. Regardless of who you vote for, let the elected officials aware of who their constituents are and what they are looking for in government. This is your money people, you are paying the salaries of the people who are making decisions for you! BE THERE NOW and AFTER THIS ELECTION NO MATTER WHAT!

I'm a registered Communist, Green Party, Socialist, and I will be voting for Obama three times in Philadelphia, and one time in Florida with my absentee ballot. Oh no I already did vote in Florida.

Curmudgeon, pretending to be someone else is something Romney enjoys as well. Being fake will not make you President and will only attract naive folks. Good luck with that.
