Tell Us: When Do You Take Your Christmas Tree Down?
How long do you leave holiday decorations up?
Putting up holiday decorations can be a time-consuming process and it’s nice to get to enjoy them before they come down again, which can be an equally time-consuming process.
When I was a child, our tradition was to put up our Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, which meant we didn’t take the tree down right away. We decorate the house before Christmas Eve, but everything came down together and was put away to be stored at the same time.
Last year, we decorated and put our tree up right after Thanksgiving, so we didn’t mind cleaning up on New Year’s, since we had already had time to enjoy our decorations. This year, we didn’t get the tree up until a few days before Christmas and now we didn’t want to turn around and clean it all up mere days after putting them up. So, our tree is still up.

The Feast of the Ephinay or Little Christmas around Jan 6th. The date varies a little each year.

My father's birthday was January 13 so the family tradition was to take the decorations down January 14. "Santa Claus" put the tree up when he left the presents on Christmas Eve so the tree itself was not up any longer than the trees of folks who put theirs up for Thanksgiving or soon thereafter.

Officially, my tree comes down after January 6 -- or as soon after January 6 to take it down.

Who takes them down? I just leave it up with the lights turned off. Each year, just before Thanksgiving, I bring in the leaf-blower and blow the dust off. Easy.s
Oh, yes, it's artificial. But when you spend $800 for one at Waterloo Gardens, you want to get as much mileage out of it as you can.
