Viewfinder: Learning About Tea at the Narberth Library

Many teas are made from one tea plant.

On Monday evening, the was the scene of an unusual program. It was about tea. That's right—tea.

Evan Draper from the Random Tea Room in Philadelphia painstakingly went through the process of preparing many different types of Chinese tea, explaining their origins, and even brewing and serving samples.

Did you know that China is the largest consumer and grower of teas in the world, or that all tea types come from the same kind of plant? The different types of tea are made by variations in the manner of processing the leaves. Though after processing the leaves most teas look alike, the colors, flavors and aromas of the brewed teas are different.

Evan knows his teas, and all who attended, whether young or old, knew a lot more about teas than when they arrived.
