The week, and the new year, began with a program to erode some of the guilt felt by those of us disposing of trees we cut down in their prime to store inside our houses for a week or two. Lower Merion Township's Shade Tree Division on Monday began collecting Christmas trees for recycling on residents' normal garbage-collection days. The program continues through next Friday. Welcome to Week in Review, a henceforth regular, self-explanatory feature at Narberth-Bala Cynwyd Patch. We got 11 inches of snow. With most schools already off all week for winter vacation and some families out of town, the storm couldn't have been timed much better, even though it came with strong, frigid winds and caused travel headaches in the Monday commutes.
