An interesting guest speaker is featured every Wednesday at the Rotary club of Bala Cynwyd-Narberth (chartered 1926) and meets every week for lunch at 12:15 at Aldar Bistro. Rotary is the worlds' oldest and largest community service club of its kind, with over 1.2 million BUSINESS and PROFESSIONAL members, in over 200 countries and territories, and more than 34,000 clubs. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation recently donated $350 million to Rotary to help eliminate polio in the world. There were more than 1000 cases of polio reported DAILY back in 1985 when Rotary started this eradication project. This year (2012) there have been 70 cases of polio reported worldwide.
