Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Association to Hold 35th Annual Conference at Woodlynde School
WAYNE-- Woodlynde School, a Main Line college prep school for students with learning differences in grades K-12, will welcome nearly 500 educators, parents, and professionals on October 4 when it hosts the full-day 35th Annual Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Association Conference.
In addition to dyslexia, the conference will focus on a broad range of learning disabilities and will feature 18 workshops led by regional and national speakers as well as over 30 exhibitors. Speakers include Barbara Wilson, Lori Severino, Lynne Siqueland, and William Van Cleave.
Keynote speaker Dr. G. Reid Lyon will open the conference with an address titled, "Closing the Gap Between What We Know About Dyslexia and What We Do in Our Schools and Classrooms." This will be his last lecture related to reading and schools. Dr. Lyon is a Distinguished Scholar in Neuroscience and Cognition at the University of Texas, Dallas. In 2006 he was named one of the ten most influential people in American education by Education Week for his work in ensuring that scientific research takes a central role in educational practices and policy.
