5 Things to Know: Jan. 28-Feb. 3

A heads up for those who live or work in Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills and Penn Valley.

  1. Narberth Borough Council's Highway Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday to discuss the prospect of installing a traffic light or making other safety-inspired improvements to the intersection of Wynnewood Avenue and Wynnewood Road. Several commissioners from Lower Merion (which shares the Wynnewood Road boundary with Narberth) are expected to attend, as are one or more traffic engineers from Pennoni Associates.
  2. A mix of wintry precipitation is in the forecast for Monday morning and early afternoon in the Philadelphia area, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures should peak in the high 30s before reaching the 50s and low 60s Tuesday and Wednesday, days that may also see rain.
  3. The Lower Merion Board of School Directors meets at 8 p.m. Monday in the administration building next to Lower Merion High School. Read the agenda before the meeting.
  4. The Hamels Foundation's Bryn Mawr office and retail shop is opening to the public Feb. 4, after a private grand opening Friday evening for media and invited guests. Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi run the Hamels Foundation; the store at will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
