Volunteer Workday Planned for Cynwyd Trail

Friends of the Cynwyd Heritage Trail and Lower Merion High School’s buildOn will host a volunteer workday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. They will be prepping the stormwater wetlands for the Oct. 26 planting with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

Pizza will be provided, and all are welcome. Volunteers should meet at the trail end of the parking lot at Bala Cynwyd Park at 9 a.m.

The Cynwyd Heritage Trail is a pedestrian and bike path that runs along an abandoned rail line from roughly Bala Avenue and Montgomery Avenue to Belmont Avenue and Rock Hill Road. Lower Merion Township completed construction and opened the trail in fall 2011.
