Where You Can Go on Christmas

Bala Cynwyd and Narberth have options for those who require goods and services on the holiday.

Post offices in Bala Cynwyd, Belmont Hills, Penn Valley and Narberth are closed Christmas.

So are libraries, banks and municipal government, and most restaurants businesses.

But if you have to get out and about near home today, here are a few options:

  • See a movie. Bala Theatre (157 Bala Ave.) and the Narberth Theater (129 N. Narberth Ave.) are both open.
    Bala is showing Black Swan (1:15, 4:15, 7:15 and 9:40 p.m.), How Do You Know (1, 4, 7 and 9:35 p.m.) and Gulliver's Travels 3D (12:45, 3, 5:15, 7:30 and 9:45 p.m.)
    Narberth is showing Little Fockers (2:30, 6 and 9:10 p.m.) and Tron: Legacy 3D (2:35, 6:05 and 9:15 p.m.)
  • Shop for groceries. The Bala Cynwyd Acme (121 E. City Ave.) is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Acme in Penn Valley (829 Montgomery Ave.) is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Penn Valley Wawa (949 Montgomery Ave.) is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., but the Wawa in Bala Cynwyd at 803 Conshohocken State Road is closed.
  • Hop on a train. SEPTA's trains and buses will run on a Sunday schedule, though.
  • Grab a meal or a drink, whether hot or cold.
    Coco Thai Bistro (231 Haverford Ave., Narberth) is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., then 5 to 10 p.m.
    Starbucks in Bala Cynwyd (138 Montgomery Ave.) is serving coffee from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Great American Pub (101 N. Narberth Ave.) opens at 11:30 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m.
    The kitchen will be closed at McShea's (242 Haverford Ave., Narberth), but the bar is open from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
