Worms, Electric Cars, More at NarbEarth Day 2013

The event takes place Saturday, April 20 in Narberth.

The 24th annual NarbEarth Day is coming to town next Saturday, April 20, and gives locals the chance to check out some worm composting, see Ardmore Nissan’s electric car, get a Tarot Card reading, grab some free laundry detergent, swap houseplants, win prizes and more.

The free family event, sponsored by the Narberth Civic Association, runs from noon to 4 p.m. on April 20 at Narberth Park.

"From worm composting to electric cars, this year's exhibitors span a wide range of environmental issues,” event organizer Patsy Higgins-Dent said in a press release. “There are hands-on activities specifically for kids, including a scavenger hunt, recycled material craft projects, flower garden seed planting, and displays of live domestic and small wild animals, plus plenty for adults.”

Attendees can learn about organic gardening and lawn car, recycling and green energy.

Plus, give a little, get a little:

  • Bring an empty detergent container and natural household product company Sun and Earth will fill it with 50 oz. of laundry detergent for free.
  • Bring good condition used items—toys and household goods—and drop them off at the LM-NarberthTotallyFreeItems table.
  • Bring perennials and houseplants and swap them at the plant exchange, or if you don’t have a plant to swap, make a small donation to the NCA and take what you can use.

A raffle could win you prizes including environmentally safe cleaning products, organic food, services like energy audits and lawn care, gift certificates to yoga classes, groceries at Whole Foods and more, the press release says.

Proceeds from NarbEarth Day support the Narberth Civic Association’s activities.

The local businesses participating, according to the press release, are:
