NarbEarth Day

NarbEarth Day is celebrating its 21th anniversary, and this year’s event promises to be the biggest and best EVER!
This fun environmental fair for children and adults takes place on Saturday, April 30 (rescheduled from rained-out date) from noon to 4:00 pm, next to the Narberth Library on Windsor Avenue. Admission is totally free.
“Everything is geared toward learning to live in a more environmentally friendly way.” says Deborah Lonsdorf, one of the organizers for the event.
There will be opportunities to learn about growing your own garden, including organic vegetables and herbs. “Narberth Greens runs a Flower and Vegetable Exchange every Saturday throughout the growing season,” says Georgette DuBois, the coordinator of NarbEarth Day. “This event helps us get the word out about the active gardening community here in Narberth. We always welcome new participants, as does the Narberth Area Garden Club.”
This year, NarbEarth Day brings back the popular community yoga class, the  petting zoo (from 2:30 PM-4 PM), the children’s planting garden, and a raffle with prizes from local businesses. Along with hoagies, hot dogs, and soft pretzels from Narberth Cafe, this year we also welcome JPM Catering who will be selling locally-sourced pasture-raised beef cheeseburgers on focaccia, veggie burgers and other great goodies. We’re also happy to have old-time music from The Dill Pickles, which provides an upbeat atmosphere for the event.
Since “living green” means making every effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle, there will be swaps of used-and-in-good-condition toys and household goods sponsored by LM-NarberthTotally Free Items. Gardeners can bring perennial and house plants to exchange.

“You don’t have to bring something to swap,” notes Lonsdorf. “You’re welcome to take what you can use and make a small donation.”

Also new this year: Give new life to your old t-shirt! Bring an old t-shirt, or purchase a new or used on while supplies last, and silk-screen your choice of NarbEarth Day logos onto it!

NarbEarth Day was created in 1990 (the 20th anniversary of our national Earth Day) by the Narberth Civic Association, and it has been a beloved community tradition each year since then. The Narberth Civic Association board invites everyone to “come out and play on NarbEarth Day!”
