BMW of Main Line Prepares for Recall

1.3 million cars worldwide may need battery-cable repairs.

BMW announced this week it is recalling 1.3 million cars from model years 2003 and 2010 because of an battery-installation problem in some that could prevent ignition.

Staff at in Bala Cynwyd aren't sure how many cars from the dealership are affected, if any, sales manager Tony Lukanski told Patch. Customers are being notified by letter.

Battery-cable coverings were found incorrectly installed in some of the recalled cars, which the company says might in extreme cases lead to fires, though no accidents or injuries have been reported.

The company estimated the necessary repairs would take 30 minutes. BMW of the Main Line can perform the repairs, Lukanski said.

"They're probably being generous with the half-hour," said the sales manager. "It's probably only 10 minutes."
