A creative chef who loves it all from basic sautéed mushrooms to a great bottle of Champagne, this guy knows his way around the kitchen (he’s been cooking and baking since childhood). Click for the Meet the Chef.

Hope’s Cookies: 1125 East Lancaster Avenue Bryn Mawr, PA 19010

Peanut butter chocolate cookies, white Russian—cookies and one of the best milkshakes around (even the low and non-fat versions are good). Hope’s is the go-to spot for ice cream and treats. Click for the review.

A bona fide industry vet who loves Mahler, soft shell crabs and domestic lamb, this Penn graduate was one of the more fascinating people I have encountered. Click for the Meet the Chef.

An outstanding pork sandwich and pint specials at the bar are the draw here. Don’t be shy, it may be a dive according to some but the friendly service and crew of regulars are worth checking out. Click for the review.

A decent plate of steamed chicken, vegetables and brown rice for under ten bucks. I still can’t believe there are so many healthy options here. I have had food from here for years and I just found out about the diet section. Click for the review.

One of the best fish tacos I’ve had in a while, an impressive array of teas and the most beautiful bathroom sink I have ever seen. The sweet potato soup was also killer. Click for the review.

New Imperial Chinese Take-Out: 7134 Germantown Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19119

Not the fastest but surely one of the cheapest Chinese places around, this take-out and delivery only establishment has large portions but a long wait. Click for the review.

An earthy delicious mushroom soup with truffle oil was only the beginning. Fresh, well prepared food arrives with friendly service in a bright dining room with a gorgeous ceiling. Click for the review.

Thai small plates and some large plates of noodles are the main draw here. Beware of the dim lighting, or maybe you prefer it that way? Click  for the review.
