5 Things to Know This Week: Aug. 20-26

Teacher union talks are scheduled, as are neighborhood road closures.

1. Road crews will have lanes closed intermittently all week between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at two locations, according to PennDOT:

  • Conshohocken State Road between Hagys Ford Road and Woodbine Avenue, in Penn Valley
  • Belmont Avenue between St. Asaph's Road and Righters Ferry Road

2. Lower Merion School District officials and the Lower Merion Education Association, representatives of 1,300 district employees, will engage in contract negotiations Thursday at the administration building, LMEA president Chris SantaMaria told Patch.

3. The LMSD school board also is scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. Monday (following this agenda), also in the administration building.

4. The National Weather Service forecast calls for 20 to 40 percent chance of rain Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then clear skies through the weekend. Predicted highs range from the mid-70s to mid-80s, with overnight lows in the 60s.
