Why go: knitting, crocheting, sewing, and making crafts. Projects include backpacks, flip-flops, room décor, toys, fashion accessories.

Free kids concert: Guitar duo
Where/when: Friday, 6:30-8 p.m., Calliope Music Store, 4 E. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore (during First Friday)

Why go: Guitar duo will perform jazz and classical music

Where/when: Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Main Line Art Center, 746 Panmure Road, Haverford

Why go: Come get inspired by the creative and colorful spirits of students in Main Line Art Center's children and teen programs at this special exhibition.

Movie: "Race to Nowhere"
Where/when: Sunday, 2 p.m., Lower Merion High School auditorium

Why go: Lower Merion School District hosts this screening of the provocative, award-winning education documentary

Pricing: free, limited space


Where/when: Monday, Manayunk Art Center, 419 Green Lane (rear), Philadelphia

Why go: Every Monday, kids will experiment with painting and drawing with different kinds of media, including watercolors, pastels, ink, charcoal, and by mixing media. Please call to register and to learn about the supplies needed. Drop-ins welcome.
