Montco, Nat'l Weather Service Issue Heat Advisories

An air quality alert has also been issued from another regional authority

The Montgomery County Health Department has issued a hot weather health warning for the county through 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, but says it may be extended beyond that.

Likewise, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a heat advisory for the region, also through 8 p.m., with highs expected near 94 degrees, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

“The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible,” the NWS warned.

In addition, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission on Tuesday issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert for the entire Philadelphia metropolitan area. Code Orange means that "air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups"—defined as children; people suffering from asthma, heart or lung diseases; and the elderly.

The NWS stressed that people should take extra care to drink plenty of water, stay inside with the air conditioning on, and check on neighbors and relatives.
