Narberth Bridge Repairs Begin
Much anticipated and finally underway, repairs will make the bridge safe for vehicular traffic.
Repairs began on the 109-year-old Narberth Avenue Bridge over the Amtrak/SEPTA Paoli-Thorndale rail line on Monday morning. The bridge has been since mid-September. The repair work is being done by J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, PA, which has been working on major bridge and highway construction projects for more than 65 years.
Eckman job foreman Bill French said the repair work is expected to take a week, but that is only an estimate. Unforeseen circumstances encountered as the work progresses could extend the completion time. The work to be done requires adding support to areas where steel girders and supports have deteriorated to an unsafe level. We will check on the progress of the bridge work later in the week.
