Narberth Woman Among Victims of Building Collapse

Anne Bryan, 24, was the daughter of the Philadelphia City Treasurer and a promising art student.

Anne Bryan, 24, was one of the six people who died when a failed demolition crushed a Salvation Army store in Philadelphia on Wednesday, multiple outlets are reporting.

Bryan is the daughter of Philadelphia City Treasurer Nancy Winkler and, according to the Main Line Times, the family home is in Narberth. Winkler had also served as a financial adviser for Lower Merion Township.

Via the outlet, Bryan was shopping in the store with childhood friend and Haverford High School graduate Mary Simpson when the facility was crushed by an adjacent four-story building that, under demolition, collapsed on it.

According to Philly.com, Bryan's family released a statement through the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where she was a student.

"She gave herself to her family, friends and anyone in need of help. Her generosity was limitless. No one could ask for a better daughter, sister or friend...That she will not be here to continue to touch the lives of those around her is of intense pain to all of our family and her friends. This pain is fresh and it runs deep," the statement read, in part.

PAFA added that she was a "dynamic, inquisitive, and smart" student.

"She believed in the importance of art, took her work seriously, and was very committed to learning, improving her skills and exploring different mediums as a means of expressing complex ideas."

The collapse is currently being investigated by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and two personal injury lawsuits have already been filed against the contractors who were carrying out the demolition and the owner of the building.
