On Friday, Watch for Expressway Sweeping

Bala Cynwyd Middle School is showing the second of its three "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" performances at 7:30 p.m. tonight, with the finale at 3 p.m. Saturday. Watch for extra traffic around the middle school around those times.

Also, many downtown Narberth businesses will stay open until 9 p.m. today for First Friday festivities.

Weather

  • After a cold night with lows in the low 20s, today should see highs in the mid-40s, with little wind, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, the low temperature should be just above freezing.
  • Saturday and Sunday, highs are forecast in the 50s, with occasional rain.

  • PennDOT crews will be sweeping the shoulders of the eastbound Schuylkill Expressway between Conshohocken and City Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Delays are expected.
  • Pencoyd Road in Belmont Hills may close intermittently over the next two weeks because of water-main repair, according to the Lower Merion Department of Public Works.
  • The traffic light at Decker Boulevard and Presidential Boulevard in Bala Cynwyd was not working on Wednesday and Thursday. No signs indicated the correct right of way at the intersection.

  • The township and borough's police department have no active crime alerts. Lower Merion police will next brief news media Monday afternoon.

Trash/recycling pickup

  • Both Lower Merion and Narberth are picking up trash and recycling on a normal schedule today.
