Today's weather outlook is pretty undramatic, but Thursday's National Weather Service forecast calls for two to three inches of rain—which is a lot more water than the same measurement of snow— and a flood watch all day and night.

Weather

  • The National Weather Service calls for a cloudy day, with a daytime high in the upper 40s and nighttime low in the upper 30s. The rain shouldn't start until after midnight.

The roads

  • Potholes are rampant in the right-most lane of southbound City Avenue through Bala Cynwyd. If you see one that needs to be fixed, call the township's pothole hotline at 610-645-4782.
  • PennDOT crews will be doing overhead bridge work overnight all week, on the eastbound Schuylkill Expressway at Interstate 476. There could be occasional 15-minute traffic stoppages between midnight and 5 a.m.
  • Pencoyd Road in Belmont Hills may close intermittently this week and next because of water-main repair, according to the Lower Merion Department of Public Works.
