I-76 Closes Westbound at Belmont Ave. and Briefly Eastbound at Gladwyne

All westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway were closed as of 5:40 p.m. Friday because of a vehicle accident, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported on Twitter and in alerts through Montgomery County authorities.

Then 15 minutes later at 5:55 p.m., PennDOT reported the eastbound expressway was closed, too, at the Gladwyne on-ramp. It reopened about 6:05 p.m.

KYW 1060 AM's traffic report at 6:02 p.m. gave more bad news: the Belmont and Gladwyne off-ramps were blocked, too, and eastbound traffic backed up from Gladwyne all the way back to King of Prussia.

PennDOT cameras showed traffic backing up.

There was no immediate report on whether anyone was injured or how many vehicles were involved in the accident.
