The excessive heat may be on its way out, but it’s not leaving without a bang. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Greater Philadelphia area until 9 p.m. Friday night.
The NWS warns that the storm could bring heavy rains, hail of up to one inch and wind gusts of 58 miles per hour or more.
The watch was issued for Philadelphia and all five surrounding counties, and warned that areas with poor drainage may see flooding. For the full alert, see the NWS watch here.
