Weather Service Issues 'Excessive Heat Warning' in Narberth, Bala Cynwyd

The forecast high Wednesday is 94.

"Dangerous heat will impact the region. The oppressive heat and humidity, from the central plains and Midwest region, will continue to spread eastward across our area through the end of the week and potentially right into the weekend," reported the National Weather Service regional office in Mount Holly, NJ, in an Excessive Heat Warning Wednesday morning.

The warning is in effect from noon Wednesday through 8 p.m. Friday at the earliest.

The projected high temperature Wednesday in Narberth and Bala Cynwyd is 94, with a heat index value (how hot it feels) around 100.

Thursday's forecast high is 98 and Friday's is 100, with correspondingly higher heat indices, perhaps as high as 110.

Even at the coolest periods of night, the temperature this week may not fall below 80 after Wednesday night, when the projected low is 74.

A Code Red heat alert is in effect in Montgomery County through the week. As always, in extreme heat, residents are urged to keep children, the elderly and pets in mind and to drink plenty of fluids while taking frequent breaks.

As of Wednesday morning, the next day with a forecast high below 90 degrees is Tuesday, July 26, when the mercury may not reach above 87.
