Weather Service: Look Out for Tornadoes and Hail

Wednesday's heat threatens to yield to severe storms.

Lower Merion and Narberth residents already coping with excessive heat Wednesday have some other pressing weather news to think about.

A tornado watch is in effect from southeastern Pennsylvania to Maine until 8 p.m., the National Weather Service announced about 1 p.m.

"Tornadoes ... hail to 2 inches in diameter ... thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph ... and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas," the NWS wrote in its alert.
