Dynamic Backbending Immersion:Developing a fluid and strong back bending practice with Johnathan Raiss

In this workshop we will learn how to prepare ourselves for dynamic back bending through safe and effective joint preparation and mobility work. After setting the groundwork through opening the shoulders, spine, and hips, we will learn the similarities between various shapes such as Urdhva Dhanurasana, Bow, and Camel. We will see and feel how to utilize this knowledge to transition seamlessly between backbends within the flow of a vinyasa class. We will go through the preparation and performance of dynamic transitions between Urdhva and malasana, flip dog to urdhva, flip dolphin to viparaita dandasana, handstand to scorpion, and many other movement possibilities. The theory and practice of dropping back and standing up will be covered in detail. At the conclusion of the workshop students will have access to tools and protocols for developing their back bending practice well into the far future. All are welcome.
