Learn Beginners Spanish at New Horizons!

Are you 55 or older and interested in learning basic Spanish from someone who has first hand experience with both the language and culture?  Join like-minded older adults in our new Beginners Spanish course taught by seasoned linguist Mindy Dickinson, J.D., M.A..

Mindy first learned to speak Spanish as a high school exchange student in Lima, Peru.  In her 20s and 30s she lived in Mexico and Honduras as the wife of a diplomat. It was in her travels that she perfected the language in its many dialects, and grew to love the Latin American culture. Upon returning to the States, Mindy earned her teaching certification in Spanish (and Italian!) and subsequently taught for many years at St. Joseph’s University, Cabrini College, Immaculata University and Eastern University. Mindy also taught in the Philadelphia School District as a bilingual elementary school teacher. Currently, she is teaching a course in Spanish to adults at Delaware County Community College, in addition to practicing law, owning her own Yoga and Meditation studio and volunteering her talents at New Horizons in many facets.

The 8-week course will begin on February 14, and will take place each Thursday at 11am. The course will be held at New Horizons’ new location at Narberth Borough Hall, and will cost $20 for Members, $25 for Non-Members. The class will cover basics of the Spanish language and culture, including a lesson on beautiful Spanish music.  Students will work out of an accredited Spanish textbook by Barbara Bregstein (provided by the Center).  Please call or stop in to sign-up by February 11.
