Social injustice, corporate greed and political corruption are lampooned in this Tony Award winning musical satire about a drought-plagued town where water is so scarce that private toilets have become unthinkable. At the mercy of a single dominating corporation that maintains a monopoly on public amenities, the destitute citizens must pay towering taxes to carry out their most basic of needs. Out of the mass of the pitiable, a hero rises to lead his fellow citizens against the tyrannical regime. Drawing comedically from West Side Story and Les Misérables, among others, and filled with fun song and dance, URINETOWN pays witty homage to the great American musical theatre tradition.
Paul Recupero directs, supported by an experienced production team that includes Music Directors Barbara Newberry and Konnie Stark, Choreographer Kim Albright, Producer Susan Davit, Stage Manager Brenna McBride, Master Carpenter Michael Avis, Costumer Faithe Hornung, and Props Mistress Judy Rodes.
URINETOWN’s versatile ensemble cast, many of whom play multiple roles, features 22 talented performers from across the Greater Philadelphia area, including: Brittany Adams, Steve Arcidiacono, Chris Bartholomew, Liz Brennan, Shana Burstein, Alicia Crosby, Justin Damm, Steve DiNenno, Joe Gribbin, Bobby Hayes, Jim Hopper, Jeff Hunsicker, Linda Hunt, Aimee Kerr, Ben Potts, Jessica Potts, Tom Purnell, Kate Reynolds, Becca Schiel, Barbara Sherman, Tom Stumme and Liz Wheeler.
Stage One Performing Arts Complex is located just outside Media at 101 Plush Mill Road, Wallingford, PA. Named “best community theatre in the western suburbs” by Main Line Today, NCT is excited to continue to present professional-caliber productions at its new venue.
