Narberth and Bala Celebrating Independence Day in Style

A rundown of some of the finest Fourth of July events in the area.

The Fourth of July is upon as and, as usual, the Lower Merion area is playing host to a spate of terrific events commemorating the holiday.

Below are a few of our favorites. If we missed anything, let us know in the comments below. And be sure to have a safe, and happy, holiday.

  • The Neighborhood Club is sponsoring its annual Independence Day celebration. The parade features neighborhood kids iding decorated bicycles, clowns, jugglers, stilt walkers, floats, fire trucks, police, and public officials. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. and ends at the Bala Cynwyd Playground around 10:15 a.m.
  • The Penn Wynne Civic Association is hosting its 70th Anniversary 4th of July Parade and Carnival. Festivities begin at the Penn Wynne Fire House (1440 Manoa Rd) at 9:30 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. Be sure to swing by Penn Wynne Park too, where a carnival featuring music, food, pony rides, a moon bounce, and maybe a few things for the kids too, will be held. For more info, see the event website here
  • The annual Narberth Fourth of July Celebration is back again this year. The day begins at the Narberth Playground at 10 a.m., where activities and contests for kids of all ages run through 2 p.m., then starts up again at 7:30 p.m. with an evening program that culminates in a 9:30 p.m. fireworks display. For more information on the celebration, check out the organizations website here.
  • The South Ardmore Independence Day celebration starts at 10 a.m. at Chestnutwold Elementary. The parade, which includes trucks from Merion and Oakmont fire companies, will end at Elwell Field, where food, events, and activities will be ready for patriots of all ages.
  • The Garret Hill Fourth of July Parade boasts another fun lineup of participants this year. Free to attend, the parade starts at 10:45 a.m. at Clem Macrone Park in Bryn Mawr. To get more information on the event, check out a helpful FAQ page on the organizer's website
