A bus load of kids walked to Penn Valley Elementary today from meeting points around the school. They laughed with friends,got a little exercise and arrived at school wide-awake and ready to start the day. New LMSD Director of Elementary Education, Dr. Geraldine Fitzpatrick-Doria met a large group of families at Moreno Rd. in Penn Valley while Penn Valley principal, Scott Mitchell, and some of his staff joined the kids on Fairview for their short walk to school. Especially notable is the lack of sidewalks along both routes. We walked on lawns and in the street -- not what you'd expect around a school. One young man with a huge smile said "I wish we could do this everyday." So do I! Lets get our community walking!
