Grazia "Grace" (nee Schina) DiSilvio, age 74, long time resident of Havertown, PA. passed away Monday morning, January 6, 2014 in Chagrin Falls, OH. She died peacefully after losing her battle with cancer.

Grace was born in Colledimacine, Italy on June 5, 1939. She immigrated to Perth, Australia. Her husband, Giuseppe (Joe DiSilvio) was born in Vasto, Italy on November 22, 1935. He, too, immigrated to Perth, Australia. Joe and Grace met in Perth and were married on May 20, 1960. They had three daughters, Lena, Marilena, and Diana. Diana was the only American born, the first baby born at Bryn Mawr Hospital in the early Christmas morning on December 25, 1974. Grace was the only daughter of Valentino (Pietro) and Quintilia Schina. She was the apple of her father's eye.

Grace was an exceptional seamstress and embroiderer. She made beautiful wedding dresses. She also made all the Communion dresses for the second grade girls attending Rosemont School of the Holy Child.
Grace was very active in promoting Italian Culture. She and Joe were leaders in the Associazione Regionale Abbruzese. Grace served as the first female President of this Organization. Grace had a beautiful soprano voice and was a choir member and soloist in the Coro Gabriele D'Annuzio. She sang with pride at various events including the Philadelphia Columbus Day Parade.

And, her cooking was exceptional. From sauce to cheese to sausage to traditional cakes and cookies, everything was hand made with love.

Grace was an active parishioner at Our Mother of Good Counsel and was devoted to La Madonna and Padre Pio. Her faith was the center of her life.

Family and friends will be received at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, Bryn Mawr, PA beginning at 9:00 am on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
