$39K in State Grants Given to Local Fire Companies

Narberth-Bala Cynwyd Patch's local fire companies received funding from the state recently.

Narberth-Bala Cynwyd Patch's area fire companies each received grant money in the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner's Volunteer Fire Company, Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program (VFCVAS).

The State Fire Commissioner's Office reviewed the 2,713 applications and approved 2,665 applications for 2012-2013.

The final distribution to fire companies, statewide, totaled $26,400,000 and for volunteer ambulance services totaled $3,600,000, according to Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

Below is what each local company received and requested:

  • Narberth Fire Company — $13,116.29 (requested $15,000)
  • Union Fire Association (Bala Cynwyd) — $12,882.13 (requested $14,825)
  • Belmont Hills Fire Company — $13,116.29 (requested $15,000)

Narberth Ambulance, based in Ardmore and Conshohocken, also received a grant, getting $5,590.57 after requesting $8,405.
