$90,000 Backhoe Stolen in Narberth, Police Say

A road contractor reported it missing from a work site near the North Wynnewood Road tunnel.

Road contractor Abbonizio Construction has reported a $90,000 backhoe was stolen from a Narberth construction site last month, borough police told Patch.

The yellow Case Construction-brand backhoe went missing between July 3 and July 11 at North Wynnewood Road and Haverford Avenue, where Abbonizio was doing road work, Sgt. Bob Yantorno said.

The company checked around for almost a month before reporting the theft, Yantorno said: "They thought maybe it was on a different job site."

Road work jobs are common in the borough this summer, which may have made the theft less noticeable.

"I've probably got five or six $100,000 backhoes in town right now digging trenches," Yantorno said.
