Arrest Made in Govberg Jewelers Robbery

Curtis Shaw of Philadelphia is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

An arrest has been made in the Feb. 22 robbery of Govberg Jewelers in Suburban Square, Lower Merion Police have announced.

Curtis Shaw, 48, of the 600 block of Cheltenham Avenue in Philadelphia, has been charged with robbery, theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property, and has been remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail, police said.

Lower Merion Police said that at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 22, six men gained entry to Govberg and ordered employees and patrons to the floor. They smashed several glass cases, removing a large amount of jewelry, and then fled to the rear of the store, police said. 

The men fled the area in a white van, which eventually was recovered at a convenience store in Philadelphia, police said. Shaw was identified from video surveillance taken from the convenience store, police said.
