Bala Cynwyd Homeowner Chases Off Burglar, Police Say

Various items had been taken from the Dartmouth Road home Thursday night. Officers canvassed the neighborhood looking for the perpetrator.

A Bala Cynwyd man chased a burglar from his home Thursday night while dialing 911, Lower Merion police said.

The resident of the first block of Dartmouth Road arrived home about 9:45 p.m., Lt. Frank Higgins said. He noticed his back door was open, then saw an unfamiliar man appear from the door.

The man fled toward Oxford Road, and the homeowner chased him, dialing 911 as he ran, Higgins said. The call prompted a massive police canvassing of the neighborhood Thursday night.
