Cell Phone Swiped In Under a Minute at LA Fitness, Police Say

Also in this week's blotter: a case of criminal mischief.

Lower Merion Police Department reported the following incidents to news media at a Monday briefing.

Criminal mischief: At 8:04 a.m. on March 21, graffiti was found on three walk-in metal storage containers at Marywatersford Road and Flat Rock Road, a construction site where Brubacher Excavating is installing storm drains for the township, police said.

Theft: An iPhone 4, valued at $200, was stolen at LA Fitness in Bala Cynwyd after the owner left it alone for less than a minute, police said. On Saturday, the complainant was listening to music on her iPhone and put the phone down at her treadmill to get a sanitary wipe for the machine around 9:45 a.m. She told police she was gone less than a minute, and by the time she returned, her phone was gone, according to the report.
