'Dog Walker Watch' Debuting in Lower Merion
Dog walkers will be asked to serve as extra "eyes and ears" for the Police Department.

On Thursday, March 27th at 7:30 p.m., Lower Merion Community Watch, in partnership with the Lower Merion Police Department, will launch Dog Walker Watch, a new crime awareness program in Lower Merion Township.
The training for the first Dog Walker Watch class will be conducted by the Police Department and held at Merion Fire Company of Ardmore, 35 Greenville Ave. The class will include owners and their dogs.
"There are hundreds upon hundreds of dog walkers throughout the Township," said Community Watch President Matt Peskin. "Through Dog Walker Watch, we hope to convert many of those walkers to 'extra eyes and ears' for the Police Department as part of the Township's ongoing crime prevention efforts. Dog walkers can be a valuable resource in helping to make our community safer."
Lower Merion officers will train citizens on how to be more aware and alert when they are out on their normal walks. Also, they will teach residents on how to effectively report suspicious activity to 911 using their cell phones.
