Elderly Couple's Lifesaving Stolen in Daytime Burglary

Money stolen was to be partially used for Christmas presents

A Middletown Township couple, who are both in their 80's, were robbed of their lifesavings in a daytime burglary Monday, according to Pennsylvania State Police-Media Barracks. 

Sometime between 9:30 a.m. and noon on Dec. 16, unknown person(s) forced their way inside a home on the 100 block of S. Pennell Road, according to State Police. 

The burglar(s) entered the house through a rear door and headed for the victim's bedroom, according to State Police, and forced open a home safe with a pry-bar mechanism or tool. 

The burglar(s) stole about $4,500 in cash, the victims' life savings, from inside the safe and several pieces of jewelry from a jewelry box, according to State Police.

The victims told police they planned to use some of the money to buy Christmas presents for their family and friends, according to State Police.
